Devil Dog Story

Veteran Owned & Operated Business

Devil Dog Brew’s story is rooted in patriotism and a love for quality coffee. Founded by a Retired Marine Mustang Major who in 2010 partnered with a Disabled Vietnam Army Veteran who wanted to create a business with purpose, honoring American heroes, Gold Star Families, and First Responders reminding people of what makes the country great.

Here's a more detailed look at our story

Stan Cichuniec COO

US Army ’67 – ’69 Stan is the ‘Army Brat’ of Devil Dog Brew and is the Chief Operations Officer for the company. Stan answered his country’s call and volunteered to serve a tour in Southeast Asia from December ’67 – ’68. He served with the 25th Division assigned to the 3/13th Artillery. The motto of the 13th is; ‘WITHOUT: FEAR, FAVOR OR THE HOPE OF REWARD” and this has been Stan’s work ethic his entire life, and he brings those words to Devil Dog every day.  Since my military days I’ve was looking for a way to give back to our Veterans and after I retired from my rather busy life I finally found my purpose when I was asked to join up with our founder at Devil Dog Brew. As part of his mission with DDB, he took on the responsibility of organizing and acting in the roll of ‘Managing Partner” of Devil Dog Brew. My mission now is to find a Marine to turn the company over to bring in a fresh look and move it to the next phase.

Rich (Goose) Walker

North/SouthDakota and Western Minnesota Territory

I served in the United States Marine Corps from 1991 to 1993 and am rated 100% disabled from injuries incurred during my time in the Corps I joined because my father a Vietnam Army Veteran and my brother and I planned to enlist together, but he had to delay due to injury. I also wanted to turn my life around.  I guess you could say I needed some maturity in my life.I learned about Devil dog when they helped me reunite with my therapy dog, Sunny, after I moved from Colorado to North Dakota. I couldn't bring her initially, but once I found housing that allowed pets, Devil dog Brew assisted in getting her to me. I was so impressed with their actions and that they never asked for a dime, that I dug into them and decided this was a group that I wanted to work with which allows me to give back to my brother and sister Vets.  My goal once my son is on to college is to get even more involved with Devil Dog Brew.

Chad Power

Graphic Designer/Private label Administrator

It was a lifelong dream to join the Marine Corps, but a medical diagnosis stole my chance of realizing my dream. For years I struggled to find purpose in my life. I met Stan at the farmer's market they were selling at and asked if I could volunteer with Devil Dog Brew, I knew they did a lot for our active-duty military as well as our veterans. When Stan learned what I went to school for, Graphic Design, rather than letting me volunteer, he offered me a job. I have been with them ever since. I am grateful to Stan for taking a chance on me and giving me purpose in my life. As with everyone in the team, he also jumps in wherever needed.

Don Nigh

Sales Director Denver Metro Area

Military Service and Deployment
I was drafted in 1966 and completed my training at Fort Bliss, Texas, before being transferred to Fort Benning, Georgia. Not long into my service, I received deployment orders for Vietnam and returned home on leave to prepare for my departure. After about 15 days, I was called back to Fort Benning when it was discovered that my brother was already serving in Vietnam. As a result, I remained stationed at Fort Benning for two years and was discharged from the Army in September 1968.

Supporting Veterans and First Responders
Nearly 15 years ago, I began attending a weekly Bible study, where we learned about a coffee company founded by the son of a group member. This company was dedicated to supporting Disabled Veterans and Gold Star families. Our group discussed marketing Devil Dog Coffee in Colorado to raise funds and awareness for wounded veterans and Gold Star families, ensuring that they received better treatment than our Vietnam-era brothers and sisters. Under Stan’s leadership, the company expanded its mission to include support for First Responders. My involvement has included helping set up dealers, supporting various initiatives, and participating in special events. The organization is committed to supporting service members and their families, and I receive great satisfaction in being able to contribute to these efforts and, to enjoy great coffee.
